Taft Solar in Barangay San Rafael, Eastern Samar, will be running at a 20MWp capacity using ground-mounted solar technology. This solar power station is located around the access road of the 14MW Upper Taft Hydropower Plant, though the former is still currently under development. Taft Solar’s construction is set to commence before the end of 2024.
Taft Solar’s grounded solar technology covers an estimated 20 hectares of land. Connected via the 69kV Taft-Paranas transmission line, the project is able to provide an annual power generation of 31 GWh annually, though this is subject to the typical degradation of solar panels. More updates to follow.

In an area that has defaulted to engaging in illegal logging and coal-making, Taft Solar will aid in evading an estimated 21,853 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually. The Samar locals who engaged in such harmful environmental practices will instead be trained by the Taft Solar team in maintaining the solar energy power plant.
