In 2020, the 16-megawatt Taft Hydropower Project finished construction. The pioneer project of Magis Energy Holdings turned out to be a success, advancing clean and sustainable power in the Philippines. In the past months, the company has been developing the 2nd phase of the project: the 14-megawatt Upper Taft Hydropower Project. Magis Energy Holdings sent its management team abroad to inspect the new equipment that would be needed for this second phase project. From March 2 to 5, 2023, the team visited the plant of Global Hydro Energy in Niederranna, Austria.
The team inspected the following equipment: three 4.7 megawatt hydroelectric turbines, three main inlet valves, and three wicket gates. The team conducted numerous comprehensive factory acceptance tests which revealed satisfactory equipment quality. The visit assured the team that every single piece of equipment was of top-notch quality and that the machinery was indeed long-term. It’s only fitting that a project made for advancing sustainability is made up of advanced and sustainable components. It is expected that upon installation, the machinery will be up to the task of meeting the projections for the hydroelectric plant.
Here are the inspected and acquired equipment:
Three 4.7 megawatt hydroelectric turbines
These convert the energy of flowing or falling water into mechanical energy. This is then further transformed into electrical energy.
Three main inlet valves
These regulate the flow of water into the turbines. A well made valve ensures that the operation is both maximized in its efficiency and protected well.
Three wicket gates
These direct the flow of water toward the turbines.
All of these brand new equipment will be installed onsite starting July 2023 in time for project completion within the year. With the recently procured machinery, the company will improve lives for more Filipinos. Just like with phase 1, it is expected that the finished hydro dam will support nearby communities by generating local employment. It is the aim of Magis Energy Holdings to push renewable energy forward. Considering that Global Hydro Energy has already supplied high quality equipment to three of Magis Energy Holdings’ hydropower plants, there’s a hopeful vision for a continued partnership with the goal of providing clean energy in the Philippines.
